The speaker that blew them away

Audiodrom’s review of Mingus Quintet 2 Statement Edition began with a clear reaction to how the speaker looked in the room. The proportions, the materials and the finish made an immediate impact, giving them confidence before they heard a single note. For them, the craftsmanship set the expectation for what followed.

When the music started, their focus shifted to performance. The speaker’s control, scale and clarity quickly took over the review, and the way it handled dynamics and disappeared in the space shaped their overall impression. Track by track, the sound became the defining element of their experience.

From here, the review moved from observation to reaction. Each moment of listening added another layer to their impression, and their comments grew steadily more expressive.

This session was arranged by our distributor in the region, Radim Pieknik of RP Audio.

The review

"The Mingus Quintet 2 is one of the most stunning speakers out there."

Once the listening began, the tone of the review shifted into something more emphatic. The response was immediate:

“the Marten Mingus Quintet 2 Statement Edition blown me away.”

The reviewer then placed that reaction in context, comparing the Statement Edition directly to their own reference point:

“Although they share the same voicing philosophy with my resident speakers for the aforementioned reasons, they are better.”

As the evaluation continued, the comments became more definitive:

“I don't know of any speaker in this category that can compete with the Mingus Quintet 2 Statement version.”

And when judged without visual bias, the outlook widened even further:

“if I put them behind an imaginary veil and judge them with my eyes closed based solely on their performance, they would be hard to beat regardless of price.”

The reviewer also highlighted the character of the sound:

“the sound was exquisitely smooth and free-flowing.”

And the reviewer described how completely the speakers vanished in the room:

“With eyes closed, the Mingus Quintet 2 did not sound like one-way speakers either – they sounded like no speakers at all or large electrostatic panels, yet with complete low octaves and much more adrenaline.”

Finally, the overall composure was captured in one line:

“The sound was composed, supple and authoritative at all times, with effortless projection into the room and truly captivating three-dimensional soundstage.”

The closing statement left no room for interpretation:

“If they were part of the Got Talent contest, the Marten Mingus Quintet 2 Statement Edition would be my Golden Buzzer.”
